My bullshit health insurance covers up to $70 of eye care, and after that you get to pay everything else. That reimbursement didn’t even cover the cost of the appointment. I had to pay full price for the frames and the lenses. And the more blind you are, the more they charge you to make the lenses less like coke bottles. So I just dropped a bunch of money on these. So please say you like them, and please don’t say that they look just like the old ones. Because the old ones were black and these are dark brown, except for the part that tucks into my ears, which is turquoise for some reason.
My hair is also getting long. And the redness of those cheeks suggests I should turn on the A/C. Or maybe stop drinking beer before I go out photographing myself. Speaking of my favorite subject, here is the all important side view.

I dig them! I miss my brown glasses. My new ones seem kind of too wide for my face or something.
Anyway, you look super cute. And I like the straight-on/sideways views, it reminds me of those school portraits from the 80′s.

I hear you on the lame vision insurance. Every time I go in I have them do a comparison of what my insurance will cover vs. what the in-store sale is and it usually comes out that their sale is the better deal in terms of what I have to spend out of pocket. Especially because I need both glasses and contacts, am legally blind in one eye, and have astigmatism in both eyes.

2. I’ve never had a health care plan that covered glasses or eye exams or anything. Which means these frames are staying put. Of course, the last time I was in a Lenscrafters with Mara, I tried on a pair that I liked, and it turned out they were the exact same glasses I currently own. I know what I dig.
