In update news:
New to me car? I’m*thisclose* to purchasing a 2008 Nissan Sentra that I test drove yesterday in between snowstorms. It’s reminiscent of the Saturn Ion, but I really liked the way it handled the wet roads much better. And it’s blue, which means I’m establishing a car color pattern. My ’96 Saturn was red, the ’98 was blue, the ’07 was red, and now back to blue. I’ve been a little pattern-happy lately. I wish I could test drive more cars, but the weather isn’t letting me get out much to do that. ***Since I started this draft, I also test drove a 2007 Civic, which is running a really close second, only because it’s $3,000 more and the gas cap is on the left. I really grew to love having a passenger-side gas tank.
As for the injuries? My bruises are almost faded, but something inside my ribcage is still full of ow. I feel a dull ache when I take a deep breath, and coughing and sneezing don’t feel so great. I have been back in the pool since the accident, but I am having trouble putting in the kind of yardage I was doing three weeks ago, because I feel pain when I pull with my left arm, which happens, you know, every other stroke. Despite the pain, I can feel it getting better, and I can wear cute shoes on my right foot again, because the bruise where it got squished is now receding.
And my current ride? Mom and Dad are in Florida this week, and I’m using their car, which is the exact make, model, and color of my smashed one. It’s just two years older, has beige interior, and there’s no tree in the engine. I have to give it back this weekend, so I’m hoping to make my Major Purchase by then.
Speaking of swimming, as I was a few paragraphs ago, I didn’t give up my “eat meat in the name of faster times” experiment. The problem being that I’m not doing enough swimming to make all this meat eating worthwhile, and I’m starting to feel a little pudgy. But for good reason. I did it for New York State turkey, Italian sausage and pasta, cheese fries with bacon (with Nancy Pearl Wannabe in NYC! Who did meet and confirm the existence of Birmingham!) Tonight, pork chops are on the menu. I might treat the aforementioned Birmingham, who’s come back around to be a friend who drives me to work, teaches me how to properly cook sausage so I don’t die of eating the pink stuff, and who is out of power at the moment because he lives on the unfortunate side of town.
I’ll start the “meatrix” back up next week, when I hope to be back into the swing of things more than I am now, and possibly picking up my meat in a sporty Japanese number. BTW, thanks everyone for the car advice on the last post!

If the cvt is anything like on my 2007, you’ll hate it. at anything below minus 15c the trany won’t shift out of low range properly. if there is any wheel slip on ice the trany won’t shift out of low range properly. I am so disappointed that I bought this thing. the garage won’t do anything to fix it even though a mechanic that went for a ride with me said that something is wrong.

Glad you’re feeling better! It’s weird how much you get used to having the gas tank on a certain side. I think all my future cars will have it on the driver side, because I’ve gotten so used to it.

I’m a bit of a basket case when I get a “new to me” car. Becoming accustomed to gas tanks and windshield wipers and gear shifts is a must. I should sit in my driveway and have practice sessions to prevent idjit-ness on the highway.
I’m really glad you are feeling better. Yay for Birmingham – he’s there for you when you need him (or his car) the most!

I have had an Altima since 1999 and I can’t imagine my life without it! Hope you get a good deal on your purchase.
