Thanks for all your support yesterday! Now I have some added pressure to keep on posting… It got me thinking about why I started doing this in the first place, to document my move from New York City to the Hudson Valley. So I’m getting back to my roots today.
I went for a long walk around town on Sunday, and got some of these shots of my adopted home:

This is from the store known as "99 Cent Yard." RA, please let me know when we'll be doing the next Whip It Up, and I'll do an all-MSG theme.

A house on the end of my street. No, it is not possible to grow palm trees in the Hudson Valley, which is probably why that confused witch flew into it.

You went walking around that part of town by yourself? Where is the picture of the local thug?
Well, it was 8AM on a Sunday, but it’s still pretty quiet in these parts.

ok i have never seen a tub o’ MSG. omg.
my mom wanted to open one of those ebay stores i promptly told her she was NUTS.
I wanted to open one after seeing “The 40 Year Old Virgin.” But really, I just want to be Catherine Keener.

The MSG kills me. Is that what the local Chinese place uses? Yeesh.
I hope that my local MSG is of higher quality than the dollar store!

I wonder if Wendy’s stocks up at the 99 Cent Yard…
I like the picture of a throw back to simpler times. The photo has a lot to say.
Some corners of this town are a little Mayberry.

I’ve been wondering about how to add more MSG to my diet. If I knew all it took was a trip to Poughkeepsie we’d already own property there!
I can send you some if you want.

Potown never changes! I second the Dutchess…where are the thugs?
Again, there just aren’t that many thugs to go around.

All these pics are worth a thousand words.
Aren’t those flavor-dipped commercials gross looking? It’s like candy-coated chicken.
And does that mean people finally figured out that eBay is supposed to eliminate the middle man? It was inevitable.
I haven’t seen those commercials! I’ll have to do more research.

You can actually buy MSG? For a dollar? Yet again, you’ve taught me something new today, Noelle. (Granted, it’s something new that I’ll never need to know, but still.)
I’ll send you some, too! MSG for all!

So is that space up on eBay now?
Another thing I must research.

Is that an actual payphone? That takes coins?
Wow.
I figured I needed to photograph them while I still can.

See, a few pictures, a few captions, and blammo, you got yourself an entertaining blog post. The camera is like a wrecking ball to writer’s block.

That tree was so pretty with the orangy-red leaves. I think I might like that town.

I didn’t know you could buy MSG. Like who wants to add that?
