We had a huge storm last night. And I told you I’d get a picture of the Thai Spice / Fortune Cooky mural.
I can’t find any information on this mural, other than it was done by some high school students at an art school. I hope they make something of the vacant lot here.
My front door and a downed tree. Looks like lightning hit it, because there’s a black mark on the break, and it smells like Christmas.
The view from my front door.
That tree again, doing its best to keep away the jerks who like to drive on my road at 50MPH.
The landlesbian moved her car there to keep it safe in the storm. It’s a good thing she didn’t pull it up another foot.
The storm took down part of the fence in my garden, and somehow dropped a bunch of weeds all over the place.
I spray painted a dead tree with red paint.

That storm was amazing, wasn’t it? Central Park looks a lot like your road with the downed trees and all… Good luck cleaning up!

Wow! Lightning tree! That sounds exciting. Except for the part where the weeds dropped into your garden. Your cottage looks so pretty in the summer, it makes me miss living in a rural area.

I’m glad you’re okay. It’s been quite a week for storms!

We got hit last night too, but didn’t lose any limbs. Haven’t been out in the neighborhood yet to see if there is any damage.
At least the temperature is now lower!

Holy crap, that tree totally fell in my parking spot! I hope some hot shirtless men come to clean it up for you.
I didn’t take a good look around my property but I think it survived the storm pretty well.

Wow! That was a close one with your landlady’s car!
I LOVE the red tree — that is awesome!

i love picture posts. AND the color red – great idea by the way with the tree.
thank god the tree didn’t fall on your house!

I love that there is absolutely no size relation of any of the mural subjects. Unless that is one heckuva big panda, and someone was going for the “world’s largest fortune cookie(y) title.”

WOW! I am glad none of the trees hit the cottage!
Who has the responsability of moving the tree in the road?
PS Your blog is nationwide now. It was mentioned in the WAKA Kickball today newsletter.

Yikes. Glad that tree didn’t fall on your house!
Also, really? You are in the kickball newsletter? Go you!

Lucky your place wasn’t hit!

I’m a huge fan of the spray-painted dead tree.
I’m glad your safe!

You know what? We had a crazy, house shaking storm last night, I wonder if it flew across the Atlantic and landed on your shores? It was INSANE here, we get a lot of rain, but it has been a long time since we had a storm like that. Now, I wish I could have a red tree like yours to show for it.

Falling stuff is cool!
Sorry.

That is an interesting mural. And I love how you’re all “downed tree, downed tree, oh look, I painted a dead tree. The end.”
Posted by Lara on June 11, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Wow! That’s crazy!
Also crazy is the fact that you painted a dead tree red. And I mean “crazy” in a good way. I heart you.

I’m glad you are ok and the trees didn’t fall on anything other than the ground. We’ve had bad storms this year too and when the trees come down, it’s so scary loud! Hopefully your garden is ok and will continue to grow. It’s a beautiful garden.

There was a HUGE tree down in Central Park when I ran this morning, too! After all that heat, the only result could be a major thunderstorm.

Wow, that was a pretty crazy storm. That tree was so close to hitting your landlord’s car! Eek, that would have been no fun.
The red tree is such a cool idea! Your garden is gorgeous!

Nice job with the spray paint! I’m glad that limb didn’t hit your house, the power lines, or your landlesbian’s car. That’s lucky.

That red tree looks awesome. Way to give it a second life!

i wonder where those weeds came from. that’s sort of bizarre.

I love the red tree!

I like the red tree too – but what makes it for me is the cat. It looks like she’s very calmly braving the whirlygigs.

Wow – ferocious storm! I love the spray painted tree.

I don’t know where you live but I like the trees there.

Weed-propagating storms suck! I like your red tree, though.

Eeks. I have a home near you. I hope it’s still intact. My renters didn’t say anything…
