501, relaxed fit, do they even make button-fly anymore?

Have you ever wondered what, as a blogger, happens to your post when you push “publish”? This link above has a neat info-graphic detailing all the little bots and search engines that pick up your post and spread it around the internet. What it doesn’t say is what happens when you hit “publish” by accident and for many hours on a Sunday afternoon your blog has a post with just a URL and nothing else because you meant to save it as a draft.

This all seems important, because while I was paying no attention, I wrote my 500th post. So yeay, let’s have a little party to celebrate the 501st time I hit “publish”!

(I’ll wait…)

Are you done with the party yet? Great. Moving on. I saw the movie “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” over the weekend, and now I feel like a terrible person for not writing more often. The guy in the movie can only communicate by blinking, and writes a whole book, and that makes me feel like I have no excuse not to pour out some creative writing. The only thing standing between me and the great American novel is my cat, who likes to rub her head maniacally on the corner of the monitor and walk over the keyboard, occasionally creating strange Google searches and drunk emails to former lovers. Never again, or at least for the next week, will I ever complain about writer’s block. Or dry eyes.

Other than that, news of the weekend included my return to my second job at the bookstore, and the subsequent ending of my social life. Also, I got my oil changed, and thanks to the two month driving hiatus, this marked the first time I hit the date in my “change by” reminder windshield sticker before hitting the mileage. I also finally got new wiper blades that aren’t held on with a paper clip, which I wanted to do for some obvious safety reasons. The biggest news of all is that I went to the Apple store on Sunday afternoon. While I waited outside the store for The Man of Action, my personal tech guru, I started writing this post on this machine (sans cat):

One huge credit card swipe, many hours of data transfer and a dinner at the Cheesecake Factory later, I returned to the Christmas Tree cottage and finished the post on this machine:

So clean, so light, so beautiful. So fast, the even the cat got blurry. Now all I have to do is find a way to make the monitor corners and the keyboard completely unattractive to my gland-rubbing feline companion.

She also likes to lick things:

It’s like they say: The internet is only good for porn and bad pictures of pets. And maybe for getting up to the minute news and opinions on porn and bad pictures of pets.

Congratulations on the milestone and also on your automatically-moistened eyeballs! Both are commendable achievements. The new Mac is pretty cool, too.

    thanks, I try.

So jealous of your Mac. But hey, I hear George W. Bush wants me to spend money and is giving me $600 to prove it, so maybe Apple would like to take that off of my hands?

It really would be nice to have that $600 now.

So many accomplishments, the job, the post, the new sexy machine. I think you could totally hold your own against the guy in the movie. I mean, he just blinks, right?

    I could probably take him.

500 posts?!? I’d say that counts as a worthwhile contribution to the world of writing.

Also, thanks for adding me to your sidebar! I’m honored.

You’re welcome! The only reason it wasn’t there sooner is that I’m lazy.

Congrats on the Mac! I have to say, when I first got my macbook I found myself easily frustrated and not “getting” the mac phenomeon. Now however, I am deeply, madly, completely in love with my Mac and aside from the PCs I use at work, never ever want to switch back.

Glad to hear you liked Diving Bell. It’s definitely on my list…although I’m frustrated w/ it’s current showing times 4:15 – still at work. 9pm – ready for bed.
How about something in between movie theater?!

    purrr……nice computer!

my new internet obsession is pandora.com. Its a Genome Project, but instead of creating sheep clones or organ farms or something they assign characteristics to songs and then let you create randomized “radio stations”. it is my new best friend at work. that and stephanie miller podcasts, which are pretty much the reasons i get up and go every morning! besides the fact that its all about the children. :)

congrats on your mac!! its beautiful. when is my money coming from the prezident?
