I got all Birmingham on my cottage the other day and cleaned the hell out of it, even taking a moment to scrub the burners on the stove. They don’t even touch food! (FYI for those of you who don’t know it, when it comes to personal living space, Birmingham is the cleanest person I’ve ever met. I think he vacuums his vacuum with a dustbuster.)
So when I was finished with my cleaning task, I decided it was appropriate to put up some fall / Halloween decorations. All I had hanging around were some leftovers from when I went as the “Ghost of Halloween Past” to last year’s kickball party, plus a really melted pumpkin candle. I decided to hop on over to the dollar store to see if they had anything else that might be fun for decorative purposes. And what I saw when I got there was: fake spider webs, fake spiders, fake bats, fake vomit and fake blood. It was then that I realized I could spend $8.65 on 8 items (including tax) or I could have just not cleaned my house.
Happy Halloween!
(I’m thinking about reinstating the 30 activities project for NaBloPoMo, so I may not post again until the craziness starts on Thursday!)

If Birmingham vacuums his vacuum with a dustbuster, what does he vacuum his dustbuster with? Just thinking about it makes my brain hurt.
I am excited but nervous for NaBloPoMo. I feel unprepared, but you know, that’s when I do my best work. Go fig.
I didn’t realize you were still doing NaBloPoMo. That makes my brain hurt. I feel excited. Excited and scared.

Oh, geez, I was first! I feel like a winner!
In a way, you’re all winners. I’ll have to send you a prize if I find one.

I thought I had no decorations for Aaron’s birthday bash…nothing Halloween themed save for the two plastic pumpkins he brought.
But now that you mention it- my spiders and their webs were decor enough!
As long as you point it out, you’ve done your job. I wish I had a plastic pumpkin.

Not posting until Thursday?!!?!
But… why didn’t I think of that?
I’m getting nervous for it too. Last year I was all “whatevs!” about it and I was fine. Maybe your theme idea is better…
Yeah, last year I didn’t even join until the 3rd or something. This blog started with a theme, so I’ve already got the template…

Oh! I meant to tell you, I got Battlestar in the mail the other day and Chris and I are HOOKED. Seriously. It’s a good thing there are so many seasons for me to get through…
I’m so glad you are part of the frakking clan!

Thanks for the tip, Noelle! I am totally going to tell people that the dust and cobwebs in my home are intentional. I’m just being festive.
The vacuum and Dustbuster thing reminds me of an old episode of Friends… Monica was doing just that (cleaning the vacuum with a Dustbuster), and she said, “If only there were a smaller one to clean THIS one!” Apparently Birmingham can relate?
Sadly, that excuse runs out on Thursday.

The spiders in my yard have been going all out decorating for Halloween this year. Seriously, their webs are amazing.
Why is it that guys who clean are always SO clean? I remember the husband of an former boss reminiscing about when he was a bachelor–he had a white-tiled kitchen floor, and kept it spotless. “You could eat off it!” “Hey,” I replied, “you can eat off my kitchen floor, too.” “Really?” he said excitedly, thinking he’d met a kindred soul. “Sure, there’s LOTS of stuff down there to choose from.” I’ve never seen anyone look so horrified. Hee.
He he. I feel the same way.

A month ago, NaBloPoMo seemed like a GREAT IDEA! Now I’m in a panic.
I think you’ll be fine! Just always be constantly thinking about what you’re going to write.

Happy Halloween!
How did you manage to find yourself a man who cleans? Amazing.
You give up a lot of other things in return…

Is this “30 activities” fodder for nablo? Can’t decide whether to do it again or not. The slacker seems to be winning so far; but maybe the party girl won’t want to miss out on the fun.
If I find anything to be “fun,” I’ll let you know.

what is the whole “30 days of activities” idea? please don’t leave me hanging until tomorrow…
If you can’t wait, click on the “30 activities: Hudson Valley” tags or the “Last 30 days of New York” tag on the right, lower sidebar. It’s how I got started blogging.

I still don’t understand NoBloYoMoFo but I signed up. Should I be nervous? You all are stressing me out.
I like to call it NoBloYoMoFo. It’s fun. Like me.
See, don’t be stressed, it’s fun!
