I have a unique fetish. I like to watch dogs poop. I think it’s so funny, the way they sometimes shake or look embarrassed yet do their business in public. I try not to let their human companions know that I’m looking on, but sometimes, it’s too mesmerizing not to stare. Since leaving the city, I don’t get to see pooping dogs as much as I used to. The myriad of breeds and owners have been replaced by a dude with a German Shepard who lives down the street.
However, since Sister Alyson got her own puppy, I thought I would have ample opportunities to watch the magic of canine waste disposal. This past weekend, my parents invited us all over for dinner to have some of the delicious Jersey corn and other fresh and pre-made foods available at the supermarket. Lola the dog was invited so between reading Harry Potter 7 and doing my laundry, I took her outside for a walk a few times, hoping that I would get to see the elusive poop. For some reason, she wasn’t comfortable in New Jersey, and she held it in all weekend.
After a harrowing trip back to the city in my car, I dropped of Lola & Sister Alyson on the corner a few blocks from their apartment and circled to find parking. When we all rendezvoused back at her place, Alyson told me that Lola went right to her comfort zone (the mean streets of Grammercy Park) and let out the biggest poop of her life. And I missed it. It’s not the same for me watching cats, but I may take the dome off of Micki’s litter box for a few days, just to make up for missing the mother lode.

Because I have nothing to add to today’s post, I will instead mention that I am still shaking my head and laughing in a comically exaggerated style about Friday’s kickball team names. Which yes, I know you posted them Friday, but I’m a man unstuck in time. Or something.

Do you want me to take pictures of my dog pooping for you? ‘Cause I totally could. (Hee.) Pudge looks completely ridiculous when he poops, because of his long, long legs. And when he’s done he always takes a victory lap around the yard, with a ridiculous grin on his face. Feels so good!

How on earth can you be lacking in watching a pooping dog? There is one living a meer few miles from you who not only poops every single day, but in fact, TWICE a day. You are more than welcome to watch Olivia squat in that strange uncomfortable rounded back way and do the deed anytime you wish.

Interesting…Each time we go out to play in the yard, either hubby or I searches out whatever the dog has left on the lawn since the last time we played out there. My son has started joining in – If he spots some, he stands near it and announces “I found some poop!” and stands there until we come pick it up. It’s very helpful; he’s actually developed quite an eye for finding it.

I agree, pooping dogs are HILARIOUS. I have two, and it never fails to amuse. Especially when their legs start shaking from the exertion. My friend almost crashed her car once while looking (and laughing) at a pooping dog on the side of the road- she said she was really glad she didn’t end up hitting the car she almost hit because more terrible than the accident would be if the reason BEHIND the accident became public knowledge.

Ooh, I LOVE watching dogs poop! It’s a riot. I love the sheepish facial expressions they get.

I am alternately shaking my head with a furrowed brow in disgust and giggling to myself because you are actually right and I just never thought about it that way.
You have got me so confused by this one, my friend.

So, not really the type of post this comment fits into but…
I wanted to thank you for keeping me in your blog roll and promising to check in.
I have a feeling I won’t be away too long – I already miss it!

aaron – I’m glad you liked them, and I hope you join us in today soon!
liz – video would be preferable.
dutchess – yes, but your dog scares me.
3carn – I could use the services of your son in the park where I go running.
hope – I’d like to say I’ve never had an accident watching a dog have an accident, but…
knicks – that’s the second time you spammed my comments, and now I have to put one of those annoying word verifications up. I hope you’re happy with yourself, bitch.
bossy – if she’s as fab as you, I’m sure she’s an awesome pooper.
threetoed – do you think dogs can feel shame?
stefanie – just embrace it my friend.
Kelli – I’m sure we’ll see you soon! (and I love comments if they’re relevant or not!) Except if they’re spam.
