Pour some sugar on me

I was just so proud of my vacation post, I kinda forgot that a blog is something you write on with some kind of regularity. What to talk about?

This has been a weird week. I got back from vacation, went right to a party, went to work, had a day off instead of a hump day, and then had to go back to work again.

This is a non-sequiter, but if there was ever any doubt, my boyfriend has the most delicious shoulder. The photo below was taken at the debaucherous party, and I stole it from Pantless’ MySpace page. I think this link will take you to the rest of the photos (where most people are wearing less clothing!), but I also think that you need a MySpace account to see them, so sorry about that.

In completely polite party news, Birmingham and I celebrated Independence Day by having my parents meet his mother, and having his mother over to my place for the first time despite the fact that I have lived twenty minutes away from her for almost a year and a half. To ease some of the tension, we invited along SisterAlyson and Lola The Dog, who did her very best to be the topic of conversation and kept us out of any murky politics/religion/when is your damn son going to propose waters.

Sadly, the rain turned our outdoor barbecue (and the closure of all restaurant in the area forced us into barbecuing) into an indoor party with just enough space for everyone. After dinner the sky cleared up enough for all of us to take a walk amongst the Christmas trees and experience the wonder of ticks first-hand. To top off the evening, we ate some peach & blueberry cobbler I made from a recipe out of “Cooking Light.” Evidently using cups and cups of sugar, flour and buttermilk in a dessert still counts as cooking light as long as you completely forget to buy the complimentary vanilla ice cream.

All in all, a good time was had by all. That is all.

Vanilla ice Cream is overrated anyway.

That’s not the first Cooking Light recipe where I’ve questioned the “Light” part. Maybe they just mean don’t bake in the dark? (OK, I’m sorry; that wasn’t even amusing.)

Hope the parental meet-up went well. When is that damn boy going to propose?

    (Kidding, Birmingham) :-)

If someone was eating my shoulder in such a — I hate to say it, but — zombie-like fashion, that is so not the reaction I would choose.

bossy – I agree, although it does compliment a cobbler nicely.

stefanie – I was amused, I think you’re correct, the only light thing about that recipe was the light in the kitchen.

aaron – Birmingham didn’t love the picture either. We weren’t really thinking “zombie” at the moment, however. We’ll have to work on that.
