And Yoko Ono, too. Turns out my landlady was friends with them, and at one point, they stayed at the farm, in the house attached to my cottage. I have been told this fact at least 15 times by various people. I was told it while I was signing my lease, when I came to look at the place, when my mother came to look at the place, when I moved in, when I met the neighbors, when I met the other neighbors, and again tonight when the neighbor who actually spends every night in the room John Lennon once slept in came over to give me my heating bill. This fact was really neat at first, but considering this place was built in 1860, I would really like some new history now.
Submitted for your approval, here are some new pictures of the cottage. I want to show you the pretty outside of it before taking you to the horrifying inside pictures full of holes and rotted insulation.

The Cottage: Front, Side, and Back

Me, after a hard night’s work. I will look like this again in a few minutes, as I continue project spackle sanding.

I am commenting on two blogs at once here- first off- I completely sympathize with your Tuesday/Wednesday predicament as I, too, used to rely on Two for Tuesdays and Getting the Led Out.
Secondly, I am sure there is more history to your lovely cottage than John Lennon (as cool as that is.) I’ll bet if you ask around- you might be able to find out more. Have fun spackling!

Excuse me, but if you saw a sign on an old building that said “George Washington Slept Here,” would your response be “Fine, ok, but what ELSE happened here?” I think not (tone of fake righteous indignation here)! I would take that J.L. connection and work it, baby, work it.
Thanks for the photos…it is a sweet little place, at least on the outside. Maybe the city records would reveal more of its history.

Hey there! Had a great time meeting you with the other Top Girls. I still need to figure out what Rogation Day is.
I think it’s pretty neat you living next door to a “J/Yo slept here” spot. I was literally practicing guitar by playing “imagine” just a few moments before reading your blog. Imagine that.

I deleted the above comment because it referred to my landlady by name. Please refrain from doing this so I can stay somewhat anonymous. And to the person who left the comment, no, I didn’t see the reference, can you email it to me? Thanks!
